I’ve been thinking about how loud the conversation has gotten around homeownership. Everywhere you look, there’s someone saying it’s outdated, overrated, or not worth the stress anymore. And on the surface, I get it. Prices feel out of reach. Rates feel stuck. The math doesn’t feel friendly. It’s easy to look at all of that and quietly decide it’s just not for you.
But what stuck with me in this conversation wasn’t a defense of buying a house at all costs. It was the reminder that most of the frustration comes from how the idea has been sold. Cheap versus expensive. Rent versus own. Win or lose. None of that really matches how people live their lives.
What actually matters is whether homeownership fits the season you’re in. Not the version of you ten years from now. Not the version you see on social media. Some people prefer flexibility, while others seek stability. And some people need to stop making decisions based on headlines and start looking at their own numbers, priorities, and tolerance for risk.
The part that stayed with me most was the idea of control. Not control as status, but control as peace. Knowing your payment. Knowing your space. Knowing you’re building something slowly, even if it doesn’t feel exciting in the moment. That kind of progress doesn’t photograph well, but it compounds quietly.
So the takeaway this week isn’t “buy a house” or “don’t buy a house.” It’s simpler than that. Step back from the noise and ask yourself what problem you’re actually trying to solve right now. Once you’re honest about that, the next step usually becomes a lot clearer.
Thank you for listening, and as always… enjoy your first sip.

High Performance Habits is a good reminder that progress usually comes from small, repeatable choices, not big bursts of motivation. It helped me think less about doing more and being more intentional, and consistent with how I show up day to day.
